According to reports, the recent opening of a new factory in Faisa Balad, Pakistan, by the end of February, AkzoNobel's cost in the plant has reached 26 million euros (about 202 million yuan), which is the largest investment of AkzoNobel in Pakistan so far.
The 25-acre facility has facilities to produce decorative coatings, wood finishes, automotive and specialty coatings, coil coatings and protective coatings designed to meet the growing demand of customers in the decorative coatings and B2B sectors, including construction, automotive refinishing, electronic components, furniture, home appliances, sports equipment, construction, power, infrastructure and coil coatings.
Mubashir Omar, CEO of AkzoNobel Pakistan, said, "This investment reaffirms our commitment to growth in Pakistan. This will spark our ambition to diversify through sustainable innovation and enter new segments of the local market, while also providing new opportunities for our customers outside of Pakistan. ”
The new plant produces polyurethane-based coatings for a wide range of applications. According to AkzoNobel Pakistan, "AkzoNobel Pakistan has a long history of manufacturing high-quality polyurethane two-component coatings for automotive (two- and four-wheelers) and a variety of industrial applications. ”
Given that demand for paints and coatings in Pakistan is expected to grow, and given that the Lahore plant is unlikely to expand production capacity in the future, AkzoNobel has shifted production to Faisalabad to accommodate future production expansions.
